MP3 of the Week: Six Finger Satellite "Love.Like.Machine"
Phoenix correspondent Nick Blakey comes through with the MP3 of the Week for Sept. 2, 2010, and also check out his Q&A with Six Finger Satellite in thephoenix.com's music section:
“You see what they all see/The power of the machine.” Insistent drum machines, hyperactive sequencers birthed from the loins of DAF and the Passage, and vocals grafted on from an early-’70s pre-dubbed German skin flick channeled via Vicki from Small Wonder. Providence retro-futuristic bad boys SIX FINGER SATELLITE — who then included future DFA superstar Juan/John MacLean — have reissued their elusive 1994 cassette The Machine Cuisine Companion Cassette (Anchor Brain Records). It’s available for the post-analog age via Internet download or cassette, and along with its esoteric (and often humorous) take on Ata Tak robotica that’s as much Der Plan and Electric Dreams as it is Tuxedomoon and Hogan’s Heroes, there are six exquisitely tasty unreleased bonus tracks. Switch yourself on and learn to love 6FS again by grabbing the “Love.Like.Machine” MP3 down below.
