Mp3 of the Week: Hooray for Earth, "Surrounded By Your Friends"

With a band like HOORAY FOR EARTH, who keep one foot in Cambridge and the other in NYC, it'd be very convenient to suggest their sound recklessly straddles the two like Rev. Moore's crazy daughter from Footloose. Alas, this new track sounds a lot bigger than Boston, Brooklyn and Beaumont combined. Well, not alas... Hooray! If the big, boomin', begging-to-be-remixed "Surrounded By Your Friends" is any indication of what's on their newly eMusic-issued EP Momo (it is!), and if Momo is ay indication of what's coming on their full-length in progress (that too!), 2010 is going to be a very good year for these boys.

Celebrate Momo with the band, local 50-States title-holders Magic Magic and the amazing dance dynamo of Mystery Roar at Great Scott on December 5; and catch "Surrounded By Your Friends" on New England Product, this Sunday night from 11pm-12am on WFNX 101.7FM.
