Tonight: "Throwed" bids farewell to Bill's Bar
In the '90s, Bill's Bar appointed itself the "Bastard Child of Lansdowne
Street" -- but, thankfully, it lived long enough to see its bitchier, glammier,
big-sister clubs meet the wrecking ball. And while we've been unable to confirm anything related to the imminent closing of Bill's, tonight's show appears to be the joint's last stand -- or at the very least, damn near it. Word on the street that tonight's edition of "THROWED" was allowed to remain on the docket only because the promoters had booked Italian electro-rave sensations the BLOODY BEETROOTS three months in advance. If tonight is indeed Bill's swan song, well, there are worse ways to go out. We'd have picked some old-school Bill's band like Roadsaw, for old time's sake. But who knows: THROWED's young hipsters have been rocking the lonely end of Lansdowne for long enough that nostalgia may compel them to rip out the barstools the way Rat die-hards did a decade ago.
