Rock n roll is way out of fashion these days, but Georgia's DEAD CONFEDERATE have that early-'90s lost-boys-burning-shit-in-the-woods thing on lockdown. Not that this will help you decide whether to listen to 'em, but they sound to us like someone rolled up all of Verbena's records into a single ball of fire.
Only one way to find out . . .
Our sources tell us that U2's secret Boston show will take place March 11 at . . . the Somerville Theater.
The band previously announced a three-city mini-tour of small venues, including LA, Chicago, and Boston. Tickets have been given away by local radio stations -- including WFNX, which gave away its last pair this afternoon -- but the venue has up until now been a closely-guarded secret.
Someone's gonna get their head kicked in.
Former Southie resident and current UFC capo Dana White has announced that he's giving free tickets . . . to UFC club members . . . to see House of Pain's first performance in 10 years . . . in Boston . . . at the Roxy . . . on St. Patrick's Day. We just did the math: ladies and gentlemen, we give you a show that will make the Dropkick Murphys mosh pit look like a quiet walk in the Fens.

Having given a few cursory listens to the new U2 record, No Line On the Horizon,

do that odd thing which records tend to do even in the age of instant
interweb leaks: grow on you.
We were gonna blog about this "secret" party that Eric "E-Marce" Marcelino threw on Saturday night, which sounded like an interesting idea when he posted it on Facebook (to wit: nobody knew the location until day-of), and turned out to be a fun time at an unorthodox location -- a vegan ice-cream shop across the street from Symphony Hall.
BON SAVANTS just finished recording their next album, and to celebrate they stopped by the legendary New Alliance studios to play a set for WFNX's weekly local-music showcase New England Product (on air and on the web every Sunday night at 11).
