Jazzniks and freak-folks rejoice: Lily Pad back in action

We got word from the Lily Pad that the joint was finally finished, so we sent a photographer down to get some snaps. Place is looking gorgeous. Above, Saturday afternoon jam session with Andrew Dimola (who is also the dude to holler at if you want to play the room) and friends. As you can see, the room's been gutted and completely renovated. Improvements, in Dimola's litany, include: "adding a bathroom, firewalls, ceiling, doors, fire alarm system, floor, heating, exit door swing, a panic bar on the back door, a gait to the basement, new trim, mic cables in the ceiling for room mics, new lights, a new electrical panel, and all new pipes, (all copper and cast iron), new toilets, new sinks." Even better, they done made all their codes, so it's now legal for people -- like you -- to be in there. ("95 people to be exact!," the club shouts in an email. "Our occupancy is 95!")

While the Lily Pad has temp entertainment licenses for its Feb events, there's still the looming spectre of the dastardly Cambridge License Commission, which will decide on Thursday, February 22, whether to grant the Lily Pad a permanent entertainment license. The dudes seem pretty confident: they've already scheduled a celebration for Friday the 23rd.

In the meantime, you can bop down there just to poke your head in; there's art on the walls by Beth Cohen until February 7, then a new show by Bartek Walicki goes up.
