Oh, c'mon: you knew it was too good to be true. But still, we're ridiculously disappointed. We'd been saving up smartass remarks for weeks in anticipation of Kevin Federline's anti-valentine's-day party at Gypsy, which had been scheduled for tonight. Fresh out the inbox, the ax hath fallen:

Since leaving our fair city for the cold-hearted Rotten Apple, Cami has been blogging her face off for her new employers, the New Times/Village Voice Media empire. We don't want to get her in trouble with her new boss (same as her old boss), but for our money she's the best thing going down there. And as Boston indie-rockers are finding out, we didn't lose our favorite OTD correspondent, we've gained a couch to crash on in Brooklyn.

Click on the photo below to check out David Day's snaps from last night's "All Skate" benefit for Chez Vous, the imperiled Dorchester roller rink. According to Lindsay, they raised a grand. Look for another round in the spring.

DOWNLOAD: The Charms, "So Romantic" (mp3)

Our valentine's day present to you. Recently voted by Little Steven Van Zandt's listeners as the #2 coolest song of 2006 -- even though the record ain't technically out yet – "So Romantic" makes it obvious why the Charms are one of the few things old-school and new-school garage-punk fans can agree about.

Couldn't find a flyer for the Alexi Murdoch gig via Fenway Sessions at Great Scott tonight, but we know some people are heading over thataway tonight as well. If there was a flyer, it would probably mention that the Fenway dudes just locked in UK megabuzz band the Klaxons for April 11.

A mere three months prior to its release, a high-bit-rate rip of the new Dinosaur Jr. album Beyond has leaked to the internet. It's the first album with Barlow since '89, and on first listen -- disclaimer: we're about three songs in and counting -- it's loud, dirty, and pretty fucking good. Those are all qualities one associates with the Barlow-era Dino, but our first impression is a kind of way more punk rockish Where You Been? (and yes, we know Lou wasn't on that one).

Baddassery over at the Midway Cafe in JP courtesy of the "Musk" crew. We don't really have words to describe Kocho Bi-Sexual's track "Donuts." Gratuitously dubby DIY Casiotone reggaeton jam that rhymes "dog shit" with "bong hits"? We're all over it. Best thing to come out of Detroit since "Sandwiches."

Don't worry, not in real life or anything. It's only her network television acting debut. Everyone's favorite "Promiscuous" girl makes it into the interrogation room tonight on CSI: NY. (UPDATE: if you missed the episode, it's now streaming on demand on the CBS website, complete with opening "Maneater"-scored murder.

OTD happened to be in the vicinity of the Garden last night -- but not inside, since our girl Sharon who wrote the cover story last week rightfully snagged the office tix -- and even just perusing the aftermath we knew something special had gone down.

Whether or not the new Bonde Do Role album is actually called, as Pitchfork will report sometime this week, BONDE DO ROLE WITH LASERS, we can tell you that the anticipation on this thing is beginning to get hyper. Their holdover EP full of "Gasolina" remixes is barely out and people are flipping. Above and below: some examples of what to expect.

    IF YOU GO:

    • Turpentine Brothers, KTTSOF, Beat Awfuls, Headband
    • PA's Lounge, 345 Somerville Ave, Somerville
    • 18-plus, $7 ($10 for under 21), 8:30 pm

Hard to say which is more amusing, the Beat Awfuls/Keys to the Streets of Fear "residency" at PA's Lounge (which opts for Who-at-the-Tea-Party week-long stand in favor of the Strokes-at-TTs-once-a-week-for-a-month model that has become a beloved signifier of Boston rock mediocrity) or the press release KTTSOF put out to promote it.
