Segal Pushing Cicilline's Candidacy

State Representative David Segal, who waged a lefty bid for Congress and lost to Providence mayor David Cicilline in the Democratic primary in September, has sent an email to supporters backing his former foe:

David Cicilline and I have had our differences over the years. Nonetheless, on November 2nd I will be casting a vote for him: The contrast between him and his opponent, John Loughlin, on the issues that matter to us most, could not be more clear.  Those stark distinctions were harshly illuminated in the recent debates. That, along with Cicilline's willingness to confer with a series of antiwar and progressive activists over the last month, and his commitment to join the Progressive Caucus have compelled me to actively support his candidacy.
Getting core, liberal supporters to the polls will be important for Cicilline if he is to ensure victory over plucky Republican rival John J. Loughlin II.
Segal joins Bill Lynch, another Cicilline foe in the Democratic primary, in endorsing the party's nominee.
