The Other News in the WJAR Poll

A new WJAR poll is getting attention for a finding that has Democratic gubernatorial candidate Frank Caprio with a commanding lead over independent Lincoln Chafee. The Chafee camp, which points to a recent Rasmussen poll that puts its candidate in the lead, is particularly exercised - suggesting the poll is flawed.

But there is another finding of note in the poll: the survey gives Democratic Congressional candidate David Cicilline a sizable lead over his Republican opponent John J. Loughlin II, 49 percent to 26 percent.

If those numbers hold, it'll be trouble for Loughlin, who needs to demonstrate strength early if he is to attract national money.
