Sources: ProJo's Needham to Be Chief Economics Reporter

ProJo State House reporter Cynthia Needham is leaving her post to work as the paper's chief economics reporter, according to newsroom sources. Needham will be filling a hole left by the departure of Ben Gedan, who left the paper a few months ago to study international relations.

Needham's new job, which focuses on economic development, should allow her to tap connections at the State House, where government and economics intersect.

It's a job with a lot of potential. Rhode Island's economic ruin - how we got here, how we might recover - is the state's biggest story. No word yet on when, exactly, Needham will make the move or who might replace her at the State House. With the General Assembly set to reconvene for a special session in a couple of weeks, it seems likely that the paper will keep in her place for awhile.

Scott MacKay over at WRNI first reported that Needham would be leaving the State House.
