Bill Lynch's Nascent Run for AG in Question

Democratic party chairman William J. Lynch says he is still weighing whether to run for Attorney General after his brother, Patrick C. Lynch, suggested he was unlikely to take the plunge.

Patrick C. Lynch, the current attorney general, is all but certain to run for governor next year - telling Newsmakers host Tim White in a taping this morning that "I have every intent to have my name on the ballot for Governor in the next election" - and there has been speculation that two Lynches on one ballot could be bad for his chances.

In an interview this morning with Ian Donnis of WRNI, the public radio station, Patrick Lynch strongly suggested his brother would not run.

But William Lynch released this statement:

β€œIn the last week I have been overwhelmed and humbled by the number of people who have contacted me to offer their support as I consider a run for the Office of Attorney General. As I previously said, I will make that decision and announce it at the appropriate time.”
