Bray grilled on 10 News Conference

Major General Robert T. Bray, Rhode Island's adjutant general, declined comment when the ProJo's Amanda Milkovits wrote a story in May that raised questions about his frequent trips out of state. Yesterday, during a broadcast of WJAR-TV's 10 News Conference, Jim Taricani and Bill Rappleye pressed Bray on some of the related topics.
Bray, however, did not offer an answer for why he -- an individual whose salary is supported by taxpayers -- wouldn't talk with Milkovits for her story. Instead, he offered a mostly impenetrable stream of bureaucratic jargon, coupled with some bobbing and weaving.
The subtext for the show was whether Rhode Island, after the December 13 snow debacle, will be better prepared during the next similar occasion. We'll have to wait and see, but it doesn't inspire confidence when a public official is more interested in evading a relevant question than in answering it.
