A Phoenix staff writer since 2008, Faraone grew up in Queens and attended Hobart College in upstate New York. After enrolling at New School University’s Graduate Faculty for a semester, he earned his master’s degree at Boston University’s College of Communication, and has been in Massachusetts since. In addition to the Phoenix, Faraone has been published in the Boston Herald, Boston’s Weekly Dig, Boston Magazine, Spin, Elemental, The Source, Antenna, YRB, Fast Company, and Columbia Journalism Review.
As a Phoenix staff writer, Faraone covers a range of topics, mostly focusing on hip-hop in his entertainment coverage, and social justice issues on the news side. All that in addition to Scream On, his regular column on the art of class war. For his work, he’s been honored by consortiums including the New England Newspaper & Press Association (NENPA) and the Association of Alternative Newsmedia (AAN). Faraone’s book on the Occupy movement, 99 Nights with the 99 Percent, earned accolades from the likes of the Economist and UTNE Reader.
