    Just got to this today: Sunday's Washington Post featured an op-ed by S.R. Sidarth, who was on the receiving end of a racial slur from recently deposed Virginia Senator George Allen earlier this year. It's an interesting read.

    Hindsight's 20-20, obviously. But if Allen hadn't called Sidarth "macaca," and if this jibe hadn't been caught on video and posted on YouTube, Allen might still be a hot presidential property instead of an unemployed hack.

    The next big contract vote at the Globe is slated for December 13, says E&P.

    Less than a month ago, the Boston Newspaper Guild--the union in question--rejected a four-year contract that would have linked raises to revenues at the paper, while (dubiously) excluding cash cow Boston.com.

    The Herald's at a key juncture of its own, contract-wise: last week, the Globe's Steve Bailey reported that editorial employees at the tabloid had accepted a proposed 2-year wage freeze, but that other workers had rejected it.

    Possibility #1: John DePetro himself, who's reportedly offered to A) undergo sensitivity training and B) provide weekly air time to Grace Ross--a/k/a the "fat lesbian"--if WRKO rehires him. According to the Globe's Andrea Estes, the station isn't commenting until after DePetro's 3 p.m. press conference today.
