Mass Effect: Redemption, a series of prequel comics to Mass Effect 2, hit shelves last year. Now, a new Mass Effect comic about the events of the latest game is on the way. The comic spin-off plans to "follow the second game" -- hopefully that means new light shed on the story, rather than just a retread.
Two years ago, Patrick Kierkegaard of the University of Essex asserted that video-games reduce violent tendencies. Today, there’s a new study making the rounds that claims video-games cause aggressive behavior. Craig Anderson of Iowa State has been studying this topic for years and has performed a variety of studies on gamers of all ages
ESPN reports that EA Sports has acquired the rights to bring back the NBA Jam franchise to the Wii in the not-to-distant future. The new version will, presumably, retain the original's two-on-two format and - let's hope - will also bring back the bells and whistles from the arcade and console classic, like the way players gain superpowers when they make three consecutive baskets ("he's on fire!") or the faux-Marv Albert commentary ("Jams it in!").

The Unreal Engine, as you may be aware, formed the basis for numerous awesome games, including BioShock and Gears of War
In honor of Halloween, the Laser Orgy team has compiled a list of ten terrifying moments in video-games. Here’s the catch: all of these moments are from games that were not supposed to be scary. We’ll be baring it all and admitting which games made us shriek and fling the controller across the room when we were kids (okay, maybe as adults, too), so try not to make fun of us too much.
Today, Microsoft opened the first in a chain of retail stores designed to mimic the success of the Apple Stores.
Mac and PC users alike arched their eyebrows when this was announced. PC users just don't have the same fanboyish love of Microsoft that Mac users have for Apple. Microsoft is status quo, not something to shout about.
When you’re done reading Mitch Krpata’s review of Uncharted 2 for this week, you should head over to his blog and check out his two follow-up posts about the game.
In other video-game-related news, apparently Dead Space: Extraction sold an embarrassingly low 9,000 copies in its first week of release.
According to Gus Mastrapa at Wired's Game | Life blog, passes for Penny Arcade Expo (or PAX), the gaming con for the rest of us, are available as of right now on PAX's site.
