PAX East 2010 (Saturday): Video Game Orchestra

The Video Game Orchestra opened their Saturday night concert with this medley of classic Super Mario tunes, and followed that up with some equally familiar Super Mario Galaxy. The rest of their set included songs from Chrono Cross, Chrono Trigger, a metal version of Castlevania's music, some Silent Hill, and more. Check out our playlist of their entire set here.

The only songs we missed were their Final Fantasy song (watch someone else's recording of that here), and the rest of Metal Gear Solid's "Snake Eater" (go listen to that here). I blame the flip cam's unreliable record button and short battery life -- oh, well.

Video Game Orchestra will be playing again with their full 90-piece ensemble at Anime Boston this weekend. Many PAX attendees hailed theirs as the best musical performance of the con, so for those of you who plan to attend AB and missed VGO at PAX, make time to check out their set.

Unfortunately, using up the flip-cam battery on VGO meant no more juice for Paul & Storm or Jonathan Coulton, who were the other two acts that night. So, here's my consolation prize for JoCo fans: a children's choir singing Still Alive. Kind of creepy, but definitely awesome.
