No, Tom Finneran's not a journalist. But as a talk-radio host, he really needs to be able to speak critically about the powers that be. Assuming he wants to do his job well, of course.

And what does he do instead? Surprise his bosses at WRKO by getting into lobbying--and then, as the Globe's Frank Phillps reports today, enlist the help of a few ex-MA governors as he tries to finagle a presidential pardon.

That would be Wendy Murphy, co-host of WRKO's Finneran's Forum, explaining that the right to remain silent is actually an obligation limiting the right of alleged criminals (like Chuck Turner) to try to sway public opinion in their favor.

Interesting, especially given Murphy's volubility as a pro-prosecution commentator during the Duke lacrosse rape case.

I speak of Reese Hopkins, who's out of his 10 am-noon slot effective tomorrow, and Laura Ingraham, the nationally syndicated yakker who'll take said time over.

Boston Daily notes that Ingraham--whose exit comes amid broader cutbacks at Entercom, WRKO's parent company--probably won't be as...feisty as Hopkins.
