It could happen--apparently, the star of the Excellence in Broadcasting Network is teaming with St. Louis Blues owner Dave Checketts in an attempt to buy the St. Louis Rams.

Early comment on ESPN.com has ranged from guardedly positive to deeply skeptical. My personal favorite: "Who was the last big time racist owner of a professional sports team? Wasn't it that old lady from the Cincinnati Reds?"

Until I read this Michael Wolff piece, I hadn't known that Barack Obama recently sat down to dinner with George Will, Charles Krauthammer, David Brooks, and Bill Kristol. So: thanks to Wolff for that.

What's perplexing, though, is Wolff's description of Obama's dining partners:

By dining at George Will’s house with New York Times columnists William Kristol and David Brooks, and the Washington Post’s Charles Krauthammer, he’s single-handedly revived these guys' careers

I don't expect Rush Limbaugh to acknowledge that George Bush had his own "temple" back in 2004 when he's chortling over the "temple" Barack Obama used last night. But if actual journalists are going to report this particular GOP talking point--which, of course, is just a variation on the old Obama-as-narcissist theme--they really ought to note that fact.
