Today's Globe stumper

With the big Boston Newspaper Guild vote going on today, you'd think Times Co. and Globe management would be on the same pager re: what's going to happen if the union votes "No."

That said, compare and contrast:

"Closure is a very real path for the [New York Times] Company to take.... The Guild seems to believe it can reject the contract, prevent implementation and thereby force further negotiation. That's not right. Time is of the essence."--Catherine Mathis, senior VP/corporate communications, to the Boston Phoenix, June 5

 Awfully confusing, especially this late in the game.
