A local YouTube user who goes by "boyscout399" has posted two videos of himself being detained by law enforcement officials because he is openly carrying a gun (which is legal in Maine).
In the recordings (the Biddeford one is just audio), boyscout399 proves well-versed in legalese and Supreme Court cases. He's obviously just trying to make a point, but it is one that may surprise many Mainers: if you see someone walking down Congress Street with a gun strapped to his or her belt, that's totally kosher, legally speaking.
You can't bring your bow and arrow to Mill Creek Park anymore. Damn.
But feel free to bring your loaded gun to a bar in Tennessee (or one of 21 other states that allow loaded firearms in establishments that serve alcohol, including Maine), according to this New York Times article about how more states are passing ordinances that allow loaded guns in more places.
