I posted a few days ago about a mostly-rational, not-especially-vitriolic Christian evangelical from Waterville who is offering his take on various issues of the day online.
Norton Webber, the man in question, sent out an advisory to a number of people, after he was clued into the post by none other than Mike Hein of the Christian Civic League of Maine Maine Family Policy Council.
But we're not. Mike Heath is leaving the Moral Majority Christian Coalition Christian Civic League Maine Family Policy Council Hatespeakers of South China oh we can never get the name of that damn organization right. But after nearly 20 years at Maine's most conservative, backward-looking, intolerant "civic" organization, Heath has resigned
It was with a smirk, and a bit of schadenfreude, that we read this email from Mike Hein today:
"Dear YES for Marriage Volunteers and Supporters,It is with
a heavy heart and reluctance that I inform you the YES for
Marriage referendum effort has been canceled. The reasons are as simple as
this: neither enough funds nor enough volunteer support to continue the

colleagues in other media outlets: We — that is, you — need to start
calling Michael Heath what he is, and
has always been: the venomous leader of
a fringe hate group.
He is not the
"executive director of the Christian Civic League of Maine," even if
that's what it says on his business card (and I don't know whether it actually
does or doesn't).
It's early, but I know this won't be topped.
