Maine's Entertainment Experiment launches today!

A new, local, online entertainment network launched today, helmed by the producers of the popular web series Ragged Isle. The Entertainment Experiment ( aims to eventually be a portal for "any sort of Maine artist who's dabbling in digital distribution," says programming director Barry Dodd.

At its start, the network will feature free online streaming of established shows such as Ragged Isle and Vacationlanders (which I wrote about here), along with new ones, including No Refund For Content (twenty-something movie-theater misfits), Haunt ME (paranormal investigations), and Food Coma (Joe Ricchio's latest exploits in hedonism/epicurism).  Down the line, Dodd hopes to see the site serve as a clearinghouse for not only web series but also for web comics, audio dramas, and music videos.

People are starting to take [online video production] more seriously as an art form," he says. Not to mention Maine's vibrant, talented filmmaking scene. These two factors suggest that the Entertainment Experiment will give local artists the chance to showcase their work to a wider audience, and inspire a new generation of creators.

And for Ragged Isle fans, there's an extra hook: Before the end of the year, the Entertainment Experiment will premiere the trailer for the third and final season of the Indie Soap winning series! Stay tuned.
