State report tells us what Phoenix readers have known since 2008

In the wake of a late-2010 state study confirming Phoenix reporting from 2008, comes a new state report "revealing" what Phoenix readers knew in 2006: the Maine Turnpike Authority has ethical and spending problems to beat the band.

Remember that $1300 dinner private consultants bought Turnpike officials? Did you really think that problem was fixed by new rules? The Bangor Daily News, citing a just-released state report, disclosed over the weekend that - surprise! - with no oversight, the Turnpike Authority has continued to spend ridiculous amounts of money, at times on ethically questionable purchases.
