A public-service announcement - learn about FOI

(Disclosure right up front: I'm the president of the Maine Pro Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists, which is hosting this event.)

If you want to learn about open government and public records, come to the Wishcamper Center of the USM Portland campus (it's on Bedford Street) next Thursday, May 27, at 5:30 pm.

Dave Cuillier, the national Freedom of Information chairman of SPJ, will bring his nationwide FOI tour to Maine then, for an evening workshop on using open-government laws. Geared toward members of the media, it is nevertheless open to the public. Donations will be accepted at the door.

If you want to get a preview, check out Cuillier's blog about his national trip.
