Idea for White House garden started in Maine
Last spring, we wrote about Mainer Roger Doiron's efforts to encourage Barack Obama to replant a Victory Garden on the White House lawn. It seems we're not the only ones who think Doiron's is a great idea.
- In October, his video, in which he describes his idea and records himself planting a garden in front of his own "white house" (in Scarborough), won third place in the Brighter Planet Climate Matters video contest. Watch it yourself:

- Now, the Eat the View idea is a finalist in two contests that aim to give the Obama administration some direction as it takes office. The first, which will wrap up on January 12, is OnDayOne.org (here, Eat the View is one of nine finalists). The other is at Change.org.
