As I rode my bike home from the BOMB THE MUSIC INDUSTRY show last Tuesday at the Middle East, I reflected upon my first month of living, eating, breathing, and going to shows in Boston. I thought about how it feels like every show I’ve been to this summer has included one of the following:

- The show was a sellout

From the Middle East: a wake will be held for Billy Ruane on Saturday, October 30 from 4 to 8 pm at the Donovan-Aufiero Funeral Home, 140 Otis Street in Cambridge.

A reception will follow at the Middle East from 8 to 10 pm.

Last summer, 40 fairly hung-over Boston-area musicians got together on a Saturday morning and were chosen at random to create eight supergroup quintets. Their mission, after introductions and a few hours of practice, was to perform three new songs and one cover in front of a demanding audience that evening at the Middle East for an event called One Night Band.

Pachanga is really just another way of saying "big crazy party" (among other less savory things, according to Urban Dictionary). For now, let's just say it's the best Latin party in Cambridge. Expect salsa, reggae, merengue, and whatever gets the room moving.

This very special installment of Central Square's biggest, baddest 18+ dance frenzy features Dim Mak terrors All Leather - with ex-members of the Locust and Some Girls - as well as local beat force Herra Terra. All that plus the regular damages from DJs E-Marce and Mr.

Google MOTHERBOAR and you’ll get motherboards. This could be because the five-piece medley-metal juggernaut simply haven’t yet surfaced to their proper place atop the stoner-sludge dude chain. But we like to think it’s really because Google simply can’t handle their shit. We dare you to go directly to their Facebook page — where their newest album, The Beast Becomes The Servant, is freely streaming for a limited time — and listen all the way from “Croctosquatch” to “Zombie Vomit.

Ayo, drug fiends: good seeing you at SINDEN's set last night at the Middle East downstairs. Apologies if you were there and not tripping your face off -- but we're gonna need a urine sample before we even begin to take you seriously. As if there was any question, we now understand why the dude runs UK radio; what Diplo does with a loveable dose of slop, Sinden stitches into short, taut, mule-kickingly efficient waves.

Born as the solo project of one Ian McCarthy, Conservative Man have, over the course of two albums and six years, evolved into a full-fledged power-pop force. They already have two home bases (Nashua and Philly), but they’re fixing to make that three with a Cambridge release party for a new EP (recorded with the Luxury’s Jason Dunn).

We attempted to make this happen back when MILEY CYRUS's backing band was half of Letters to Cleo, but Kay Hanley wouldn't take the bait. Better late than never. And now that Miley's band is 3/4 of American Hi-Fi, we've got STACY JONES -- Cyrus's current musical director, former Letters to Cleo and Veruca Salt drummer, and American Hi-Fi frontdude -- covering Miley's megahit "The Climb," in the green room at WFNX this morning.

Stacy Jones spent the first 15 years of his rock life, much of it in Boston, grinding out power-pop in the years before emo made it a staple of Top 40 radio. He got his start as the drummer in Letters to Cleo, left that band to join grunge-era stars Veruca Salt, then pulled a Dave Grohl and traded his kit for a guitar as the frontman of his own band, AMERICAN HI-FI, scoring a debut hit with their pop-metal homage “Flavor of the Weak.

On her new Kill Rock Stars release, Know Better Learn Faster, Thao Nguyen starts the song "Easy" with this line, spoken matter-of-factly: "Sad people dance too." That sentiment is also fitting for Nguyen's work in general. Her songs both deal with heartbreak and longing, but often to the strains of her catchy choruses and choppy, funky, and melodic guitar playing.
