By now, you've heard the news: WFNX is relaunching this Halloween as an online radio station, and we're throwing a series of Disorientation 2012 parties leading up to the sonic resurrection. It kicks off a week from tonight with a FREE SHOW at the Lansdowne Pub (not too far from WFNX's new home base inside the Boston Phoenix newsroom), featuring New Jersey guitar rock dudes THE STATIC JACKS, Boston indie heartthrobs CAMDEN (dubbed "Boston's answer to the Strokes" by Boston Magazine), and the latest addition to the WFNX team, Phoenix assistant music editor LIZ PELLY
Some sweet Class of 2012 double-dipping going on tonight around town, as ANIMAL TALK kick-off a sold Thursday night rock show at T.T. The Bear's Place in Cambridge (with BrownBoot, the Future Everybody, and Blackboard Nails), while over a few friendly bridges CAMDEN put down the telephones and headlines a glitzy affair at Allston's Great Scott (Daily Pravda, Cooling Towers, and Paper Snakes in tow).
Whole lotta CLASS OF 2012 action on this cold, snowy Tuesday afternoon in Boston.
In the video clip below, RULE take us on a sneaky look inside their recent sessions at Mad Oak Studio in Allston, allowing a 16-second peak of the hard rock crew’s debut record set for release this spring. Hey, we'll take it.
Welcome to the sounds of CLASS OF 2012. Last night we unveiled the soundtrack to our annual Best New Boston Bands feature, a 12-track compilation spanning metal to electro to psych to folk to indie, available for free download via Bandcamp. Last year we hooked up a handful of mp3s, but this year we're going full-frontal awesome.
