I gently reminded a family member today, who wanted to blame the entire Chinese population for the crime, that at the Atlanta games one of our citizens used a nail bomb to express his unhappiness about gay and reproductive rights.

I agree. After such a spectacular opening ceremony, here goes! I do believe that controversy and war has been imbedded in so many minds. This tragic stabbing;[my condolences to the victims and their families], will turn into an USA attack. Will some loose site of the coming together of the world? Will retaliation began. Will the 29th olympics become a embarrasing mark in history? I hope not.

For faster and friendlier (or slower assimilation) go to the Jinghua Fandian and visit Weili's Bar. Great ex-patriotic people, cheap beer and a nice duck pond that you can drink around. An oasis in the middle of a crazy, cough-inducing city where I've lived and loved with impunity.

I am glad to hear that your experience has somewhat got better. I am sure your feelings were real, after all Beijing is very different from Boston or anywhere else in the US. And that's EXACTLY why those "parachute" foreigner journalists descending on Beijing should refrain from making a fool out of themselves by opening their big mouth and jumping into hasty conclusions that they might regret later.

Geez, are you for real? It seems that you are suffering so much in Beijing, why don't you just go home to the SOX NATION, where everything is perfect?

How much more ignorant can you get? For your information, many Chinese, including the Beijingers can perfectly well pronounce "r" (as in "Riben"/Japan and "Re"/Hot). It is just a schtupid American stereotype/misconception that the Chinese can't pronounce R's. Actually a lot of Japanese can't, hence you have "Leksu Sokusu Nashoong". Get your facts straight!
