No Free Pass For Keating
State House News Service reports that Bristol County DA Samuel Sutter will run in the Democratic primary against freshman Congressman Bill Keating, in the new 9th district in Southeastern Massachusetts.
This is not a stunning development (although it might have been finalized when Joe Kennedy III announced he'll run in the 4th, not the 9th).
My sense has been that former state senator Rob O'Leary, who lost to Keating in the 2010 primary, would run again if Sutter got in -- under the theory that O'Leary stands a better chance with the split field. So don't be surprised if O'Leary announces soon.
And then the games begin. Meanwhile, anyone hearing who the Republicans might come up with, with Sheriff Hodgson passing on the race?
