The Palin Speech Tomorrow is Key: Checkers Redux?
Sarah Palin is under fire and so is the man who picked her, John McCain. But luckily for them, they will both have the opportunity in the next 60 hours or so to turn things around.
Palin comes first on Wednesday night. And, although things look bad now, there have been other instances when veep choices under fire have turned similar plights around. Remember Richard Nixon in 1952 was apparently on the verge of being dropped from the ticket by Dwight Eisenhower for alleged financial improprieties when he gave his infamous "Checkers" speech, totally turning public opinion around. It could happen again.
