Don't Draw Any Conclusions from Democratic Michigan Race: It Meant Nothing
Analysts are drawing conclusions from Hillary Clinton's showing against uncommitted in Michigan last night, with
misleading headlines that give the impression she "won" (bolstered by a misleading statement issued by her campaign manager after the results came in) and interpretations on the other side based on the fact that in the black community she apparently lost to "uncommitted."
Don't draw any conclusions from Michigan. She, Gravel, and Kucinich were the only names on the ballot; the others withdrew after the Democratic National Committee stripped the state of its primary delegates (but not its delegates to the convention) because it had gone against the DNC's timetable for primaries. The truth is that there was no campaign there and the sample of voters who showed up yesterday was likely very unrepresentative.
We'll have real results from Nevada on Saturday and South Carolina a week later. Watch those, not these.
