Is Clinton Possibly Facing Trouble In Iowa?
The latest Des Moines Register poll has Hillary Clinton a few points ahead of both John Edwards and Barack Obama in Iowa -- far less of a lead than she holds nationally. And, as
this astute piece by the Washington Post's Dan Balz recounted yesterday, voters there on the ground have a fair amount of skepticism about whether Clinton can unite the country and win an election.
The point is that today's polls don't mean all that much. When voters actually start casting their ballots -- beginning in Iowa -- perceptions are going to change. If Clinton runs the table, she obviously wins. But if she stumbles in any of the early tests, all bets are off. And Iowa could be the first stumble.
