Chris Hitchens Asks: If Gore Wins the Nobel Prize, Will He Run?

We didn't get to this last week but Chris Hitchens in Slate wondered aloud whether a Nobel Prize would push Al Gore into the race.
Frankly, we doubt it. We've never thought Gore was going to run because he seems happier now than he was when he was in politics. It's true that Barack Obama and John Edwards don't seem to be mounting overwhelming challenges to Hillary Clinton -- a circumstance which some think might draw Gore in. But the flip side of that is that a late challenge to Clinton looks more quixotic than before.
The real question now is whether Clinton is so far ahead that it will prevent Gore from endorsing one of her opponents.
