Quick GOP Debate Wrapup

    The Politico's Jonathan Martin was blogging from the Iowa debate, available here. Generally, we agree with the assessment of the Iowa voters who watched the debate with Frank Luntz. Mitt Romney and Rudy Giuliani again were the class of the field, with Mike Huckabee close behind.
    What it all means is that unless the results in the Iowa Straw poll late this week upset the apple cart, Romney, Giuliani, and a Fred Thompson who better be on his game when he finally gets into the race comprise the real contenders at this point. After watching John McCain struggle again today, it's hard to see how he gets back into a competitive posture.
