Tek signs. Yay.

Now can we all get on with the rest our lives?

Quote of the day
: “Never before has a 37-year-old coming off a .220/.313/.359 season received this much attention.”

Really remarkable that it got to this point.

One thing that disturbs me: “In ‘10, he can earn another $2 million in incentives based on playing time, beginning at 80 games started.”

Is it wrong of me to be afeared that, given Tito’s tendency to have man crushes on veteran players, we’ll be seeing a lot more whiffs on high fastballs and runners sailing into second than we otherwise would’ve hoped over the next two years?

I’ll be happy to be proven wrong.

In the mean time, let’s just hope his posturing these past few weeks isn’t truly indicative of a case of grossly inflated self-worth. That he’ll take it like a man when he’s told to ride pine (as he inevitably will), and that he’s well-apprised that a huge part of his job from here on in involves tutoring whoever the catcher of the future may be.

It would also be nice if he could find his way to a post-May batting average slightly higher than .187.

And now I’m going to resume paying attention to the people who really don’t know where their next paycheck is going to come from.
