Rocky Horror shadow-cast finds new home at Boston Common AMC
Local Rocky Horror
fans, rejoice! The Harvard Square AMC is still closing (see "Rocky Horror
shadow-cast says goodbye," July 2, 2012), but the Full Body Cast has found a
new venue for their weekly Saturday midnight engagement with Dr. Frank and the
gang. The FBC will be cracking a figurative bottle of champagne over their new stage at the Boston Common AMC theatre on August 4 at 12:30 AM.
"Our new theater will be a bit larger than our regular
weekly theater was in Harvard
Square - we will be seating about 300 in the new
space," says the cast's director Alex Savitzky. Their Harvard AMC space only accommodated
180 audience members.
Emerson
College students will get
the most out of the new location, but non-locals may have parking concerns. "There
is no doubt less immediate street parking than in Harvard Square," Satitzsky admits. "That
said, there are many more parking garages near Boston Common than we had in the
Square," including validated parking in the movie theater's garage, which was
not an option at the Harvard AMC location.
"It will be weird not being in Harvard Square after all these years,"
says Savitzsky. "But technically, our cast has its roots in Boston from the old Exeter Street days, so it's almost like
going home and we're very excited to have a home."
