Meet the Mayor: Zipper Hospital

Welcome to "Meet the Mayor," a segment in which we interview local Foursquare Mayors in their natural habitats.

Zipper Hospital
Jessie DuBay

So you need to get zippers fixed a lot?
Sometimes, yeah. You can get zippers fixed, but I mostly come here for alterations; Jeans, dresses, prom dresses, whatever.

Zippers, buttons, or Velcro?
Well, Velcro's problem is it gets stuck on everything. If Velcro got stuck to my tights right now, it would probably rip it. So don't even consider Velcro. And buttons become loose, right? They fall off. Then you have to come here to get your buttons reattached anyway, so you should probably go with zippers.

What's your favorite possession with a zipper on it?
I have a purse that's largely made of zippers. It's got zippers all over. Some don't lead to a pocket. Some do lead to a pocket. Zippers on the inside. Zippers on the outside.

Why are you so favorable about something so wildly impractical?
Because it's fashionable. Isn't most fashion that looks good impractical?

Hmm. ... You may be onto something there. How have your overall lifetime experiences with zipping been?
It makes a great noise when you zip things, so it's fun to zip and unzip. Unzipping things can probably be the most fun thing about it - in a scandalous way.
