Save the Zines

Papercut Zine Library Fundraiser

Paper cuts suck, but don't confuse Papercut Zine Library with the pesky lacerations it's named after.  The Somerville space is actually a treasured resource for anyone who's nostalgic for simpler times, when self-publishing was about something more than vanity and profit. The library -- which offers up access to over 14,000 underground publications with topics ranging from alternative agriculture to zines about zines -- needs your help.

After celebrating the library's 6-year anniversary with a month-long fundraiser, the print-loving punks who run Papercut are making one final attempt to secure their annual operating expenses. They're hoping that by extending the fundraiser until the end of June they can reach their goal and eliminate some financial woes, freeing up more time for hosting workshops, showcasing local art, and curating their extensive collection of indie media.  And if that kind of earnest dedication isn't enough to get you to pull out your credit card -- patrons who shell out $5 are automatically entered in a raffle for a $20 gift card to Diesel Cafe in Davis Square. Make a $10 contribution to win a 10-person sundae party at JP Licks.

Donations can be made via paypal, or, in the spirit of DIY nostalgia -- you can actually use the mail -- and send cash or check to 226 Pearl Street in Somerville.
