Meet the Mayor: The Boston Phoenix

Welcome to "Meet the Mayor," a segment in which we interview local Foursquare Mayors in their natural habitats.

Boston Phoenix
TJ Miller

Has anyone ever confused you with the other T.J. Miller?
The actor? No, but a friend of mine in New York saw T.J. Miller was performing at some comedy club. He texted me and was like, "Hey, are you performing tonight?"

Are you proud to share your name with a successful actor/comedian?
Not really. Although his recent film is a Yogi Bear film. The only other film I know him from was Cloverfield, and he was kind of a douchebag in that.

Would you trade places with him?
No. I like what I'm doing.

You'd rather be web developer for the Phoenix instead of a famous actor?
Well, I question whether he's famous.

He's playing Ranger Jones. He's famous.
Yeah, you're right. Well, you never know. Maybe one of these days, I will be more famous.

Why are there little bottles of weird, fruit-flavored liquor all over the office?
Actually, those have been here for a couple of years. Sara Faith Alterman worked here, and when she left, she gave everyone a small bottle of bourbon or vodka. I think I have apple-cider vodka on my desk. I imagine drinking it might be painful.
