McRibbles are a McHoax

Junk food apologists were abuzz on Wednesday with news that McDonald's, purveyor of the over-processed, was preparing to release the McRibble. The product was alleged to be the McDonald's response to Burger King's new ribs, a messy and nugget-sized collection of mystery meats based on the elusive McRib. The above photo was allegedly leaked from the company's top-secret red-and-yellow testing facility, with that wily Hamburglar likely to blame.

But sadly, it was all a dream. Consumerist got ahold of a rep from the Golden Arches (probably Grimace, the only reliable one in that gang), who denied the whole thing and wouldn't even acknowledge what a great idea it was:

"This is a hoax," the rep told the blog. "This is not something that we are testing, nor is this something that will be made available. However, the famed McRib will continue to make an appearance on our menu in the future!"

Lucky for those of us struggling with our inner fat kid, it's National Donut Day and someone has already created a "One Million Fans Demand McRibbles" Facebook group. While you drown your sorrows in a free donut, remember: at least we still have the Double Down.
