Mary-Kate Olsen writes for the New York Times

Don't believe us? Check out her heartfelt but horribly written piece about her obsession with Chanel bags over in the NYT's Style section. There she is over on the Contributors page, as well. Nice bit about her new fashion line, co-designed with sister Ashley. Have fun trying to score any of this "derelict" high-end knitwear in Wal-Mart.

For the record, we're more curious by MK & A acting the part of style mavens than we are aghast. Their kids' lines are always adorable, so how come their grown-up "I'm not Michelle Tanner, I'm a sexy young midget with bajillions of dollars on the prowl" look sucks so much? It doesn't take a genius to layer on sweaters, leggings, clunky boots, and big sunglasses. Why all the fuss over them reinventing something, as though it had been dormant all this time?

They pile on more theatrical make-up than a 12-year-old playing on mommy's vanity table. They pose like possessed dolls. And while the pieces they choose all cost more than a month's rent in Beacon Hill, their outfits STILL make them look as though they've been sleeping on the street. Marc Jacobs introduced the industry to trash-bag chic a long time ago. Do we really need a repeat performance?
