Attend this [free] film fest: Avenue of the Arts Film Festival @ the West End Branch Library
The annual Avenue
of the Arts Film Festival not only offers free screenings of some of last
year's best movies, but adds to the festive spirit by throwing in live music
and gala parties. It opens tomorrow at the West End Branch Library with a
reception and performance by the Patrice Monahan Trio at 4:30 pm
followed by a screening of the multi-Oscar-nominated Moneyball at 5:30 pm. Directed by Bennett Miller, the film features
Brad Pitt as Oakland A's manager Billy Beane, who took his bargain-basement
team repeatedly to the playoffs. It should be required viewing for the current
management of the Red Sox. The event continues through July 20, with screenings
of other Oscar favorites including The
Artist, Midnight in Paris, The Descendants, and Hugo. The West End is at 151 Cambridge St, Boston
