See this film: Lessons of a Dream @ the Coolidge
Though not as flashy as the Fassbinder/Herzog/Wenders
glory days of the '70s, German cinema lately has quietly been turning out some
of the world's better movies, many of which have been showcased by the
Goethe-Institut at the Coolidge Corner Theatre. Tomorrow they are screening Sebastian
Grobler's Lessons of a Dream (2011). Set in Germany in 1874, it offers
an illuminating twist on the familiar story of the young teacher who challenges
the hidebound rules of a stodgy school, inspiring the students and threatening
the establishment. The Coolidge is at 290 Harvard St, Brookline | Sunday, June 24 @ 11 am | $5 |
