See this film special: "Star Wars: Uncut" at the Brattle

Imitation is the sincerest form of fanboy flattery, hence the rationale of Star Wars: Uncut, a project that divided up the original film into 15 second segments and distributed them to deserving devotees, inviting them to remake the scenes as they saw fit. It's a kind of Exquisite Corpse with droids and light sabers. Some contributors added their own extra touches, including garnishes from the pop cultural universe such as Moe the Bartender and the Dude from The Big Lebowski. Needless to say, the quality is variable, but the intentions are as pure as a Jedi's heart, and the overall effect is very entertaining, if not mindboggling. It screens at the Brattle Theatre, 40 Brattle Street, Cambridge | Thursday, June 7 @ 8 pm | $10 | 617.876.6837 or brattlefilm.org.
