In what has got to be the longest-lived and most successful franchise in cinema history, the James Bond films have also provided a kind of secret history of the last 60 years as reflected in the changing persona of its lethal hero, from Sean Connery's sexy, cynical Cold Warrior in Dr. No (1962) to Daniel Craig's sexy, existential, troubled knight in a world of ambiguous threats and enemies in the upcoming Skyfall. The Somerville Theatre offers an opportunity to see the first six films from that first phase, which also includes George Lazenby's underrated single outing in On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969).
