Currently being seen by a lot more eyes as the opening band on the Killers' current tour, Wild Light is a band we can say we knew way back when. Catch them above at a show they played not long ago at Great Scott, just before they left to get famous. After the jump, another video.

VIDEO: Violens, "Until It's Unlit" (live at the MFA)

Last summer, Grizzly Bear played a show on a night off from their stint opening for Radiohead at the Courtyard at the Museum of Fine Arts. Opening up for them? NYC's Violens, whom we shot some video of, which we'd been saving for a special occasion. With them set to play tonight at Great Scott along with Amazing Baby, now seemed as good a time as any.

VIDEO: Six Finger Satllite live at Great Scott. Video by Matt Parish

If there was one thing I didn’t expect to see displayed on stage this windy Saturday, it was big smiles. Spastic dances? Yes. Twitchy guitar palpitations? Check. Darkly intoned exhortations over a punishing rhythm section? Sure. But when you think Six Finger Satellite, musicians grinning ear-to-ear in musical exultation is not an image that comes to mind.

It’s a record-release party of epic proportions this Sunday at Great Scott. Local sound artist BRENDAN MURRAY follows up last year’s acclaimed long-form drone fest, Commonwealth, with an untitled album of shorter, more delicate pieces. Brooklynite Daniel Lopatin (a/k/a ONEOHTRIX POINT NEVER) has a beautiful new vinyl record of drifting, kraut-synth inspired works called Betrayed in the Octagon

New Hampshire's WILD LIGHT are playing Great Scott this coming Wednesday, and you might want to check that show out -- because the next time you see 'em, they'll be playing arenas . . . opening for the Killers. The band announced today that they've been tapped to open the Killers' midwestern headlining jaunt, kicking off with some bazonkers show at a Las Vegas casino.

VIDEO: Love Is All, "Wishing Well," live in Allston

Last Monday, Great Scott played host to a solid double bill with psychedelic Brooklyn reverb-rockers Crystal Stilts, who we understand haven't been at this live thing too long, and Scottish synth-pop outfit Love Is All, and the latter were the clear highlight, delievering a high-energy, fun set that had the place shaking - quite literally, as the video will attest.

We've been privately gushing over former Verbena frontman Scott AA Bondy's solo record American Hearts (Fat Possum) for about a year now -- we doubt that he'd consider it a compliment to hear us compare it to anything as cliche as Ryan Adams' Heartbreaker or the first Velvet Underground album, but that's unironic high praise in this cube.

DOWNLOAD: Age Rings, Rock and Roll Is Dead [mp3]

Used to be, when we wanted to hear an AGE RINGS number, we’d just wheel ourselves over to Will Spitz’s desk and poke him with an uncapped Sharpie until he acquiesced with an a cappella version of the song of our choosing. Last time, it took only three dots.
