It’s amazing how much hate mail I receive accusing me of ignoring local artists. Most hilarious is this ass on Facebook who recently bitched that I “write about the same people over and over.” He might have a solid point, if in the past year alone I didn’t pay significant attention to: Esoteric, Black Madeen, Bad Rabbits, Singapore Kane, Slaine, Boycott Blues, DJ Slim, JDO, M-Dot, Masspike Miles, D-Tension, The Berklee J Dilla Ensemble, Jaysaun, Will C, Amadeus, Rite Hook, WMS the Sultan, GWOP Gang, Wasted Talent, The Dunnas, Dawaun Parker, RADIx, Mr.
Before leaving my apartment last evening - following a weekend of Halloween hysteria and anticipating what’s sure to be a debauchery-packed Election Day - I was hardly psyched about reviewing Redman, Method Man, and Snoop Dogg at the House of Blues. But like several other Sunday night survivors, I successfully summoned the correct mood with a Red Bull and some chronic.
Full disclosure first: DJ Slim has gotten me stoned on numerous occasions. The most recent time was at his crib, which is only about one mile - or a half-hour, if you're driving after a session with his bubbler - away from my apartment. Just thought I would get that out of the way.
For those who don't know, Slim first gained quasi-fame in the Bean and elsewhere with his epic "Pussy Licker" song and video (if you've never seen it, take a few moments right now, unless you're at work).
