[stream] Ed Schrader's Music Beat - Jazz Mind // playing Cambridge tonight with The Dreebs & Guerilla Toss

In the Best of 2012 issue of The Phoenix, we gave a quick shout out to Baltimore noise-punk duo Ed Schrader's Music Beat, listing their latest LP as one of the year's most overlooked releases: "An addictive 10-song full-length from a Baltimore noise-rock duo whose name has been circulating around the underground music community for years. The word 'visceral' has been thrown around a lot this year, but the highs and lows here are hard not to feel shook up by."

A good place to start is the abrasive 2-minute "When I'm In a Car" or the more streamlined  "My Mind is Broken By the Sound", both of which feature No Age's Randy Randall on guitar. Stream the entire LP here:

Jazz Mind is a varied record, but a seam running through each song is its physical percussive elements that from the first listen, clearly needs to be heard live. The band plays tonight at the Cambridge Elks Lodge with Brooklyn's The Dreebs and a bunch of local bands including Guerilla Toss, who were recently mentioned on this list I wrote of Massachusetts bands to check to in 2013. THANX to Bodies of Water and Boston Hassle for organizing this excellent show.
