Hola! Apologies for the sick/travel day yesterday, hope you didn't mind the Bathtub Interview re-runs. But we're back in full-frontal force this afternoon, as we teased a few Class of 2013 bands on BOSTON ACCENTS today, as well as hyped up some gigs around town and Rock Show going on at the Middle East right about now. Be sure to flip to WFNX on your internet radio dial tomorrow at 5pm EST as we invite all the Class of 2013 bands featured in tomorrow's Phoenix to the WFNX studio. We'll debut a few new tracks from the artists, and have a good time. Hilarity will, no doubt, ensue.
Here's today's playlist:
BOOM SAID THUNDER “The Saint” -- New track off debut LP Exist, out March 1. Listen to WFNX all day Thursday as this is the Boston Accents Song of the Day. The trio plays T.T. The Bear's Place in Cambridge tonight with Soccer Mom, Soft Pyramids, and Maine's Endless Jags.
SECRET LOVER “Rubber” -- Another Class of 2013 artist, representing the great city of Wormtown, Massachusetts. The lead track off their 2012 summer demo.
THE FAGETTES “Gonna Die Out Here” -- Playing with Secret Lover and Fat Creeps at Distant Castle on February 1. Get naked and baked at that one, kids.
PARKS “Modern Fiction” -- Premiere of new tune from Brian E. King and fellow Class of 2013er.
GUILLERMO SEXO “Echo Out My Call” -- New track from Reuben Bettsak's noisy indie-pop band, released last week.
VARSITY DRAG “Mind Like A Sieve” -- New joint from Ben Deily, off a split 7-inch with Chestnut Drive; 90 seconds of turbo-charged indie rock bombast.
VARSITY DRAG “Billy Ruane” -- And since we have Varsity Drag on the brain, here's their modern classic from 2006 or so.
FAT CREEPS “Daydreaming” -- Getting the MTV Buzzworthy treatment here; good on these Creeps.
POTTY MOUTH “Damage” -- New track from Northampton band ready to jump to national stage in 2013. Sun Damage was one of the best records of 2012.
KRILL “Slug” -- Playing tonight at Great Scott in Allston with Snowmine and...
ABADABAD “All The Bros Say” -- ... these dapper Gs, also a part of Class of 2013.
FUTURE CARNIVORES “Drags” - Another project from Bettsak, which we debuted last week on WFNX.
MUY CANSADO “Not For Nothing” -- New album Let It Go finally out this week.
EARLY NINETIES “Surrounded By Green Lights” -- Closing out with the Class of 2013 electronic-pop duo; new track released last week.
