[listen in] Peter Prescott of Mission of Burma co-hosts Boston Accents today on WFNX + Clint Conley's guest playlist

This is when you reach for your internet radio. Tune in to WFNX this afternoon at 5pm EST when PETER PRESCOTT of MISSION OF BURMA co-hosts BOSTON ACCENTS. He'll join me live in the studio as we discuss Burma's latest record Unsound, their show Saturday night at the Sinclair in Harvard Square -- we hear a horn section is involved -- and Burma's enduring legacy here in Boston and around the world.

Prescott has already compiled a personalized playlist to spin on the show, which includes homegrown tracks from DMZ, La Peste, Black Helicopter, Dinosaur Jr., the Pixies, his Burma colleague Roger Miller, and others.

In the meantime, Mission of Burma's CLINT CONLEY selected a few tracks of his own for an exclusive Phoenix playlist, which are posted below with his own commentary.

TACO LEG "The Original"
New Zealand naifs attempt the reductivist punk holy grail: an entire album using one finger on the fretboard. Happily they fail -- 2 out of 12 songs actually lapse into primitive chording. This one even has a 7th note...

REPORTS "Dinamo Cambridge" [12:17!]
Hyper-mesmeric-lockdown groove. Burma was pleased Reports could join us at the Sinclair. Shut down your mind and enjoy a total ass-kicking.

FUTURE OF THE LEFT "Sheena Is A T-Shirt Salesman" [from The Plot Against Common Sense]
Always provocative, consistently intelligent, permanently dissatisfied. FotL recalls a time before indie-rock lapsed into its daybed in a cloud of reverb, lassitude, and competitive beard-growing.

LYRES "Not Like the Other One"
An overlooked gem from the man who has dedicated his life to breaking down the rock to the subatomic levels to understand its most fundamental workings.

A.C. NEWMAN "Strings"
From the Master's latest.. I have instructed my heirs that my tombstone is to read, "Here lies a happy man -- lucky in love; blessed with good fortune and family; once recorded on same label as Carl Newman." [hear/buy the song here

BUGS & RATS "I Felt a Funeral In My Brain"
From their excellently titled Get That Fucking Light Out Of My Face. Straight outta Quincy -- a dose of authentic rock.

CHRIS BROKAW "Danny Borracho" [from Gambler's Ecstasy]
Wandering finger-picker returns to the plectrum to remind us of his muscular rock-writing abilities.

ORCHESTRA OF THE SPHERES "There Is No No" [from Nonagonic Now]
Trippy, trancey tribalisms from way Down-Under.
