Boston Accents 01.07.13: Dropkick Murphys week on WFNX + Mission of Burma, Mister Vertigo, Parks, Ex-Magicians, Caspian

Here's today's BOSTON ACCENTS playlist, setting the tone for the full-record stream of the DROPKICK MURPHYS new album, Signed and Sealed In Blood. Listen in tomorrow on WFNX as we are joined in the studio by Westland!

DROPICK MURPHYS “Tessie” -- It's Dropkicks Week here at WFNX, and we gave away a pair of passes to tomorrow's CD release party at McGreevys by asking this question, appropriate with yesterday's end to the NHL lockout: What's the name of the fight song the Dropkick Murphys wrote for the Boston Bruins roughly a decade ago? Answer: "Time To Go"

MISSION OF BURMA “Academy Fight Song” -- Excited to present Burma's January 19 show at the Sinclair in Cambridge. Get tickets here.

EX-MAGICIANS “Adirondack Bound” -- Playing that same right, over the Cambridge/Somerville line at Radio with Doom Lover, Nervous, and Vegans.

MISTER VERTIGO “Spear Hill” -- New record Taciturn out January 18 at T.T. The Bear's Place on a dual-record release party with Sammy Witness. The Lights Out and John Powhida International Airport also on the bill. This track features guest vocals by Aaron Perrino of the Sheila Dive/Dear Leader, and "Mel & Rite" features Noelle Leblac of Damone.

MISTER VERTIGO “Everyday Is Like Sunday” -- Aaaaaand there's also a cover of this Morrissey classic.

THE YEAR MILLION “Twice The Joy” -- New track from the Boston rock band, record release party coming sometime in mid-February. Debuted this track last week off Broken Circuits.

POLAROIDS “Sidewalk Cracks” -- Experimental project featuring Tim Oxton performing live tonight at T.T. The Bear's.

AVOXBLUE “Dreaming Thru Your Eyes (Andre Obin Remix)” -- Two of Boston's finer electronic music producers team up on a remix from Jimmy Rossi's A Place Without Time EP. Avox plays T.T. The Bear's Sunday, January 13 on a darkwavealicious bill with Bathaus, M/O/O/N and Ruby Ridge. Obin and Avoxblue will tour together this spring.

THE DIFFERENCE ENGINE “Lights I” -- Solo project from ex-8mm Fuzz keyboardist Christopher Brown, performing the Middle East tonight.

CASPIAN “Halls of Summer” -- The Beverly post-rock band announced a 30-date headlining tour that kicks off February 16 in Chapel Hill and ends March 24 at Signal Kitchen in Burlington, Vermont.

PARKS “Sweater Weather” -- Brian E. King and his exceptional new band play Great Scott in Allston tomorrow with Hospitality and Teen.

RIBS “Cosmos” -- The BMA Best Rock Act of 2012 plays the WFNX-presented gig Wednesday at T.T.'s with San Francisco's the Soft Moon and Montreal's Majical Cloudz. Read about the Soft Moon in this week's Phoenix.
